Bob proudly served as a Marine in the Pacific during WW2. Upon returning he helped his father run the family bar, then getting a job in sales with Uddeholm Steel. In seeing an unfulfilled niche he, along with Joe Walsh, started Windsor Steel and supplied shops with cut to order pieces. He eventually bought out Joe and brought his son Andy and daughter Joanne into the business. He was always centered on treating all employees with respect and dignity, which continues to this day.
It is because of his unwavering determination for customer satisfaction and service we have our motto:
“Our Service is the Difference”
In his downtime, Bob enjoyed working in his yard while battling to keep the squirrels off of the bird feeders. In the snowy winter months, he and his wife Jeanne would drive to Florida to escape the cold of the Northeast.
Bob passed away in February 2000 after a fight with ALS. Even after this devastating diagnosis, his dedication to the success of Windsor Steel was foremost in his mind as he continued to make the daily trip from his home in Milford to South Windsor for months until succumbing to this terrible disease.
He is sorely missed.
